![]() If everything is cloud-based, then the next question is “how are Methods of reducing end-point costs, but each has an equivalent increase on the Only if the replacement will accomplish the workload. The idea of reducing laptop costs makes sense, of course, but That my answers were correct isn't bad, but it isn't useful for you if they answered what you asked but not what you wanted to ask. I'd re-ask the question without anything unnecessary injected and see if we can't figure out a useful answer for you. NO worries, I'm just trying to clarify that we aren't clear what you want to do and while all of my info was accurate, it's only answering your question, but not, I don' think, your actual goals. ![]() But the assumptions added to the post make the subject something very different than what you actually want to know. iPad and VM don't work as stated, but I think what might be your goal is super easy and something we do every day. Think about your goal (cheaper laptops?) and don't interject ideas like iPads or virtualization that don't appear to actually be related to your goal. I think you should step back and ask only the question you want to ask. As a LANless company with 100% web apps, we use Chromebooks all of the time.īut this isn't related to the question that you asked. There was a sale yesterday to get decent ones for $100!ĬHromebooks are perfect for web apps. We’re moving most of the stuff they need to cloud storage and web applications.Ĭhromebooks are way cheaper than iPads. Looking to move the office staff as well. ![]() I thinking we could spring for Cheaper laptops and run everything off of those. What about Chromebooks? By having the VM do the heavy lifting, I figured we could get away from the more expensive laptops we’ve been buying and just run users off of those.īummer. I was trying to see if there is a way people could access a virtual desktop from an iPad. Our thought was we could use something cheaper and have the users work from a remote machine that would do the "heavy lifting" This way we would only need to worry about the one machine for major software updates and maintenance.ĭoes anyone have any experience with this?ĭoes anyone know if there is away to run a virtual machine from an iPad? I’m looking for ways to save money and make my life easier by going to virtual machines. Most of the employees have higher end laptops and I'm trying to find ways to save us some money. My intern and I where hashing around the idea of moving everyone to Virtual machines with the hopes of reducing maintenance time on the laptops that are in the field. Is there an effective & inexpensive way for people to access a virtual machine that doesn't require a lot of maintenance and good for people on the go? The majority of my team works out in the field on construction sites.
